PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frodo Pitlik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodel Khalifa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rodel Khalifa will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Frodo Pitlik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Rodel Khalifa!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Glass and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pitlik misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Khalifa wants to counter with a clinch but Pitlik pushes him away.
Pitlik takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Pitlik's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Khalifa connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Pitlik scrambles back to his feet.
Khalifa scores with a body shot.
Pitlik walks into a straight right hand from Khalifa.

Khalifa drops Pitlik with a big left hand and mounts him. Pitlik is in big trouble!


Pitlik is rocked!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Khalifa is trying to take his opponent's back.
Oh Pitlik is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Pitlik sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Pitlik seems to have got his legs back now.

Pitlik actively working from the bottom here.
Khalifa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pitlik. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Pitlik won't allow Khalifa to pass to mount.
Khalifa is trying to control the action in half guard but Pitlik is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Khalifa might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Pitlik haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Khalifa stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Pitlik to get to his feet.
Khalifa lands a head shot.
Pitlik pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Khalifa avoids the head kick by Pitlik.

Khalifa throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Pitlik tumbling to the canvas!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Khalifa wants to control from the top but Pitlik keeps moving.
Khalifa wants to pass the guard but Pitlik is keeping the position.
Pitlik keeping moving, preventing Khalifa from controlling successfully.
Khalifa trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Khalifa trying to control but Pitlik is working from the bottom.

Khalifa got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pitlik has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Khalifa has managed to get both his arms back between Pitlik's legs - danger averted.
Khalifa won't allow Pitlik to sweep him here.

Khalifa wants to control from the top but Pitlik keeps moving.
Pitlik really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Khalifa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pitlik swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Khalifa not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Pitlik looking for a guillotine here but Khalifa defends easily.
Khalifa is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Khalifa wants to control from the top but Pitlik keeps moving.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Pitlik takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Khalifa ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Khalifa has cracked Pitlik with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Khalifa lands another huge swinging hook and Pitlik tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Pitlik, before Khalifa can land any more shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Rodel Khalifa!
