PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Waylon Fowler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick De Koning (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying De Koning's choice of entrance music: All Eyez On Me. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Waylon Fowler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nick De Koning!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Daniel Blasius and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Koning throws a series of punches but Fowler moves out of range.
Fowler is looking to counter punch.
De Koning misses with a series of wild punches.
A combination from De Koning does no damage.
Fowler throws a head kick that De Koning semi-blocks.
Nick De Koning seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
De Koning misses with a few strikes there.
A quick step to the side and Fowler tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
De Koning throws a leg kick but Fowler checks it.
De Koning throws a left and a right that both miss

and Fowler counters by moving into the clinch.
Fowler scores a nice knee to the body.
Fowler really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fowler breaks the clinch.
De Koning throws a right hand that Fowler ducks under and follows up with a left that Fowler also avoids with ease.
Fowler shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as De Koning sprawls well. De Koning wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Fowler gets slowly back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fowler blocks a head kick by De Koning.
Fowler seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
De Koning misses with a two punch combination.
De Koning misses with a double jab.
De Koning lands a high kick!
De Koning throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Fowler counters with a big head kick but De Koning shrugs it off.
De Koning throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Fowler shoots in and gets a takedown into De Koning's guard.
De Koning utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
De Koning wants to stand and escape but Fowler is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
De Koning looks winded!
Fowler lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
De Koning is looking to stand up but Fowler isn't so interested in that idea.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fowler lands a couple of elbows.
Fowler is standing up over De Koning. De Koning looks to escape but Fowler dives into side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Fowler is trying to get an arm triangle but De Koning is defending well.
Fowler lands some shots froms side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
De Koning taking punishment in the form of punches.
De Koning takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Fowler is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. De Koning looks calm but he's in trouble here. Fowler gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. De Koning is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Fowler lets go of the hold and De Koning can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Waylon Fowler!
Nick De Koning spoke after the fight, saying 'Losing is part of the game. This will only make me stronger as a fighter.'.
