Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alessandro Orsini!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Ramon Gracie!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie slips under a jab from Orsini.
Orsini on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

Orsini takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Orsini throws a sloppy head kick and Gracie moves out of range easily.

and Gracie counters with a takedown into side control.
Orsini controls the position for a moment.
Orsini is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Orsini takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Orsini stops Gracie from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
Orsini tries to hold on but Gracie postures up.
Gracie pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
Gracie tries to control but Orsini wriggling away.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Orsini bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Gracie manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Orsini manages to get himself to full guard.

Gracie passes Orsini's left leg - he's now in half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gracie connects with a nice short shot to Orsini's temple.

Orsini is refusing to be controlled, as Gracie sits in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Orsini is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Orsini looking for submissions off his back.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Orsini wants to control but Gracie is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Orsini is staying active underneath Gracie, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Well, if Gracie is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Gracie prevents Orsini from improving his position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Gracie fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Orsini sprawls well initially but Gracie persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Orsini has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Gracie escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Gracie!
Orsini looking for a sweep but Gracie has passed into full mount! Oh no!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Orsini working to try and regain half guard.

Gracie with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Orsini is trying to escape the mount.
Gracie trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Gracie controlling his opponent.
Orsini gets back to half guard.

Gracie wants to work for an arm triangle but Orsini is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Orsini is staying active underneath Gracie, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Orsini moves into full guard.
Gracie trying to control the position from guard on top but Orsini is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Orsini throws his legs up looking for a submission but Gracie uses it to pass to side control.
Orsini tries to improve position but can't.
Orsini trying to control but Gracie flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Orsini trying to control the hands but Gracie breaks the grip.
Gracie is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
You can see the frustration on Orsini's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Gracie is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
Orsini trying to control but not successfully.
Orsini is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gracie controlling well, preventing Orsini from escaping the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Ramon Gracie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Gracie is looking to slow Orsini down with leg kicks.
Gracie takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Gracie.
Orsini wants to control but Gracie postures up.
Ramon Gracie has got the better of the ground game so far.
Orsini is not content to let Gracie control the position.

Orsini is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Gracie's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Gracie! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Orsini has tapped! This one is allllll over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:41 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Ramon Gracie!

Ramon Gracie decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
