Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Punk shoots in but Carvalho avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Carvalho fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Punk avoids it really well and circles away.
Carvalho misses with a takedown attempt - Punk sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Punk was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Carvalho drives through with a takedown into guard.
Punk has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Punk throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Punk is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Carvalho has momentary wrist control but Punk slips an elbow through the middle.

Punk postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Carvalho is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Punk, into his guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Punk wants to lay and pray for a moment but Carvalho keeps working.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Punk seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Punk working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Punk looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Carvalho with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Punk is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Punk seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Carvalho is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
