PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ishi Kiki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hade Wood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wood is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Mama Said Knock You Out. Hade Wood told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ishi Kiki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hade Wood!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kiki on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
A swing and a miss from Kiki.
Wood throws a hook to the side of Kiki's head but Kiki sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Kiki on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Wood avoids a punch combination nicely.
Wood moves out of range of the strikes.
Kiki misses with an uppercut. Wood saw that one coming.
A slow jab from Kiki misses its intended target.
Kiki fails in his attempt to clinch.
Ishi Kiki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kiki takes the fight into the clinch.
Kiki pushes Wood back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Kiki wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Kiki pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Wood lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Kiki clobbers Wood with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Kiki looks to land a left hand but Wood moved out of range nicely.
Wood connects with a body shot.
Horrible takedown by Wood or perhaps it was just good defense by Kiki which made him look bad.

Wood lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kiki circles away quickly and effectively.

Kiki has had enough of the clinch but Wood keeps him there for the moment.

Wood tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kiki just stands there and leans against the cage.

Kiki's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Wood looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kiki missing with a left hand there. Wood was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Wood lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Wood.
Wood wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Wood closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kiki circles away.
Ishi Kiki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hade Wood.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kiki is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Wood stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kiki swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hade Wood dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Wood throws a body punch but Kiki moves out of range.

Wood wants to finish this one by submission but Kiki is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Wood.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wood has control of Kiki's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Kiki regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Hade Wood showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Wood is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Wood is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Kiki is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
