Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Weldon Carrillo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Collins! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Collins closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Collins lands in his opponent's guard. Collins with a flurry of punches that miss. Collins trying to control the position from guard on top but Carrillo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Carrillo wants to stand but Collins is controlling the position. Collins throws a strike but Carrillo rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Collins is looking to stand up but Carrillo isn't so interested in that idea. Carrillo would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Collins looking for subs off his back but Carrillo has passed one foot through into half guard.
Carrillo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Collins keeps working. Carrillo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Collins has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Carrillo is working away from the top position though. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Collins can do anything to dispel that myth. Collins punching from the bottom.
Carrillo seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Collins bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Carrillo bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Collins clinches up against the cage. Collins pulls guard effortlessly. Carrillo trying to control the position from guard on top but Collins is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Collins wants to sweep here but Carrillo controlling him for the moment. Collins has a closed guard, preventing Carrillo from standing up. Collins controls Carrillo momentarily but Carrillo frees himself.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Collins has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Collins looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Carrillo passes into side control.
Carrillo tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Collins tries to escape but Carrillo is in control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Collins throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Carrillo was covering up waiting for the punch and Collins finishes the takedown easily into guard. Collins looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Carrillo is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carrillo trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
That's one minute gone in the round. Collins has gone for a leg lock! Carrillo slips out almost immediately though and dives into Collins's guard. Carrillo wants to get up but he can't break Collins's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Carrillo drops back looking for a leg! Collins is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Collins manages to kick Carrillo off! Carrillo jumps back into Collins's guard. Collins has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Carrillo has passed into side control.
Collins is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Carrillo is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Collins tries to control Carrillo's body but Carrillo pushes him off. Collins squirms to his side and now Carrillo has his back! Carrillo controlling well, preventing Collins from escaping the position.
Carrillo is looking to control Collins but Collins is wriggling around and keeping busy. Collins tries to break free.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Carrillo is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Collins defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Carrillo is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Collins knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Collins for a finish. Collins trying to control the action but Carrillo just sinks the hooks in.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Carrillo is hanging on to Collins's back as he tries to escape.
Collins trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. Collins is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Carrillo gets his way!

Weldon Carrillo dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!
Collins gets a takedown into half guard. Carrillo is trying is best to control the position here. Carrillo is trying to stand up here but Collins is controlling him well. Collins working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Carrillo's thigh. Carrillo counters though and makes it back to full guard. Collins trying to control the position from guard on top but Carrillo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Carrillo has control of Collins's left arm, preventing Collins from doing any damage.

Collins looking for submissions off his back. Carrillo lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Collins tries to buck Carrillo off but Carrillo is having none of it. Collins keeps trying to improve his position. Carrillo prevents Collins from escaping the position. Collins looking for a sweep but Carrillo has passed into full mount! Oh no!
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Carrillo controlling his opponent. Carrillo is in the full mount, landing strikes. Carrillo wants to finish this one by submission but Collins is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Carrillo. Collins is trying desperately to improve position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Carrillo misses with a head shot. James Collins has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Weldon Carrillo is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Carrillo looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
And that's the end of the fight! Weldon Carrillo showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Carrillo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
