The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ballard gets caught napping as Jankhoteli dives in and scores a takedown. Ballard manages to retain guard.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Jankhoteli changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ballard looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Ballard explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Jankhoteli feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are working up against the cage. Ballard manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jankhoteli has Ballard pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Jankhoteli pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Ballard tumbling to the mat - Jankhoteli dives into Ballard's guard.

Jankhoteli content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Ballard has locked up a guillotine! Ballard's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Jankhoteli is holding on here and Ballard must be using up a lot of energy. Jankhoteli has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Ballard gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
