PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between El Indio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andy Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davis has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Andy Davis is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, El Indio!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Andy Davis!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Ian Loll and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Indio - that will leave a mark!
Davis moves out of range as Indio throws a body kick.
Indio keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Davis looks winded!
Davis takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
A clash of legs there as Davis blocks the low kick.
Nice body kick there by Indio.
Indio is looking to land body kicks.
Davis is looking for the big counter here.
Indio thumps Davis with a low kick.
A punch combination from Indio misses.
Good leg kick by Indio there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Indio fakes the leg kick and cracks Davis in the body.

Davis stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Indio.
Indio lands a nice leg kick that just misses Davis's sensitive parts.
El Indio seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Indio is looking to slow Davis down with leg kicks.
Indio throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Indio feints and then cracks Davis's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Davis down.
Davis's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Indio moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Indio looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
An inside leg kick from Indio misses.
As Indio backs off Davis throws a huge counter combo but Indio manages to avoid it all.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Davis fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Indio wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Indio scores with a spinning back kick!
Indio throws a leg kick which misses Davis's front leg but catches the back leg as Davis tries to avoid it.
Indio explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
A chopping leg kick lands by Indio.
Indio looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Davis has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Indio.
Indio lands a nice looking body kick.
Indio's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Indio duly obliges.
Davis doesn't manage to clinch there - Indio circles away.
Indio bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Davis has managed to clinch.

Davis manages to pull guard.

Indio wants to pass the guard but Davis is keeping the position.
Indio has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Indio stands and throws Davis's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Indio tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Indio is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Davis is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Davis can do anything to dispel that myth.

Davis is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Indio tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Indio has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Indio tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Indio tries for a kimura but Davis is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

El Indio dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Indio. Davis shrugs it off though.
Indio lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Davis at a distance.
A nice leg kick lands there from Indio.
Indio throws a front kick that sends Davis stumbling back into the cage.
Indio connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Indio is looking to control Davis's arms but Davis gets an underhook and turns him. Now Indio has his back to the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Indio blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Davis is breathing heavily.

Davis pulls Indio into guard.

Indio thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Indio is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Davis is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Davis has escaped and now he's on top!


Indio escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Davis gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Indio is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Davis defends well.

Davis sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Indio looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Indio throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Davis escapes and throws Indio's legs to the side, diving into side control!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Davis is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Indio bucks up and tries to throw Davis off but instead Davis has got his back!
Indio grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Davis scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
Indio wants to escape the position.
Indio wants to get back to his feet.
Davis really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Indio.
Davis keeps control of the position as Indio tries to break free.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Andy Davis will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Indio throws a wild body kick that Davis sees coming a mile off.
El Indio is winning the standup battle so far.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Indio.

Davis darts in and clinches Indio up against the cage.
Indio taking a breather.
Indio stalling in the clinch but Davis improves position.
Maybe Indio would be better served going for some more strikes rather than trying to control so much.

Davis jumps guard and drags Indio to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Indio drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Davis dives on top into guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Indio looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Davis passes into half guard.
Davis takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Well, if Davis is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Indio scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Davis manages to mount him!
Indio can't escape the position.
Indio is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Indio really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Davis controlling from the full mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Indio looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Indio is trying to get back to his feet but Davis has full control of the position and if anything, Indio has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Davis doesn't have the hooks in and Indio manages to turn into his guard.

Indio drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Indio jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Davis pushes Indio off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Indio smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Indio throws a nice inside leg kick.
Davis wants to clinch.
Indio thuds a left hand into Davis's body.
Indio throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Indio punishes Davis's body with a nice straight punch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Indio scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Davis doesn't seem bothered though.

Davis clinches up against the cage.

Davis pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Davis closes this distance looking for a takedown but Indio circles away.
Indio dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Davis. That did some damage!
Davis takes a shot right to the bread basket.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Davis takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Indio lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Indio lands a slapping body shot.
Davis takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Indio scores with a kick to the midsection.
Indio swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
El Indio is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Indio comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

And that's the end of the fight!
El Indio showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Indio has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
