The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knowles shoots in for a takedown but Wendall shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Wendall pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Knowles is looking for a counter combo.

Knowles closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Knowles's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Wendall has closed the distance and engaged Knowles in a clinch.

Wendall pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

and Wendall counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

It looks like Marcel Knowles has been cut.

Wendall shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Knowles defends it nicely.

Wendall wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Knowles has him pressed against the cage.
Knowles keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Wendall's efforts to push away.
Knowles gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Wendall.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
