PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Erickson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott has chosen DMX - Ain't No Sunshine as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Albert Achterberg and Wagner Zegers.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Erickson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Scott but Scott pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Scott lands with a nice combination. Erickson backs away looking to recover.

Scott rushes Erickson and presses him up against the cage.
Erickson gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Scott.

Scott's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Scott changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Erickson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

and Scott counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

Scott drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Scott is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Erickson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Erickson tries to improve position but can't.
Erickson manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Scott has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Erickson defend it? Scott steps over the head and cranks it - Erickson is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Scott!
