PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rob Bobbins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Watch Out (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rob Bobbins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Watch Out!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Dirk Anderson and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Out drives through and clinches with Bobbins against the cage.
Bobbins stops a takedown attempt from Out.
Bobbins is trying to break the clinch but Out has him pressed against the cage.
Bobbins jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Out walks away with a smile on his face. Bobbins gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Out has taken the fight to the clinch.
Out cracks Bobbins with a nice body shot.
Out is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Bobbins is defending well for now.
Out works on Bobbins's body with a couple of short punches.
Bobbins tries to break free but Out pushes him back against the cage.

Out has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Bobbins is trying to keep an underhook but Out manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Let's hope that Out has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Out's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Out tries to pass the half guard into mount. Bobbins knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Out sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Out wants to pass to mount but Bobbins is defending the position.
Bobbins really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bobbins has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Out is working away from the top position though.
Out slows the pace down in half guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Bobbins tries for a takedown but Out circles away easily
enabling Out to counter with a crisp jab.


It looks like Rob Bobbins has been cut.

Out pushes Bobbins up against the cage in a clinch.

Out manages to break the clinch.
Bobbins tries for a takedown but Out sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rob Bobbins. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Out moves into the clinch successfully.
Out is working Bobbins over against the cage.
Bobbins is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Out pulls guard successfully.
Out pulls Bobbins in to control the position.
Out is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Bobbins would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Out keeping moving, preventing Bobbins from controlling successfully.
Out looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Out keeping full guard, as Bobbins tries to pass.
Out seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Watch Out seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Out instigates a clinch.
Out lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Out breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Horrible takedown attempt by Out or perhaps it was just good defense by Bobbins, which made it look bad.
Nice body punch from Out.
Out has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Bobbins is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Out closes the distance and pushes Bobbins back into the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Out tries for a takedown but Bobbins manages to get underhooks.
Out lands a hook to the side of the head.
Still in the clinch, Out scores with a nice short uppercut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Out can't get the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Watch Out dominated that round.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Out fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Bobbins rushes Out and presses him up against the cage.
Out is trying to pull guard but Bobbins has him pressed against the cage.
A right handed body shot lands from Out.
Out lands a left hand that snaps the head of Bobbins backwards.
Out misses with a knee to the head.
Bobbins wants a takedown.
Out tries to pull guard but Bobbins holds him up against the cage and eventually Out drops back down to his feet.
Rob Bobbins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Watch Out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bobbins goes for a takedown in the clinch but Out prevents it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Out breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Out has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Bobbins is trying to push Out away but Out has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Out lands a nice uppercut.
Out throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Bobbins blocks it with crossed arms.
Out drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Bobbins gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Out breaks the clinch.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Bobbins wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Out drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Bobbins gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Out gets through Bobbins's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Out goes for a takedown in the clinch but Bobbins prevents it.
Out dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Bobbins is trying to maintain a safe position but Out gets an underhook and turns Bobbins into the cage.

Bobbins drags the fight down to the ground.
Out controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Out is continuing to stall.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Out.

Out in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Out is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Bobbins shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Out moves into the clinch successfully.
Out is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Out lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Watch Out seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Bobbins tries to pull guard but Out forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Out's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Out looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bobbins is fending him off so far but Out persists. Nope, Bobbins circles away and we're back to standing.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Out taking a breather.

Out tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Bobbins tries a body shot but Out blocks it.
A bit of stalling here from Out.
Out lands a right hand.
Out scores with a nice hook to the head.
Out is pushing Bobbins up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Out breaks from the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Out drives through and clinches with Bobbins against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bobbins drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Watch Out showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Out lands an uppercut.
Bobbins takes a shot to the head.
Bobbins wants to take the fight to the mat but Out manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Out scores with a shot to the side of Bobbins's head.
Bobbins missing with knees to the body.

Out pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Out closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bobbins circles away.
Rob Bobbins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Watch Out.

Out closes the distance and pushes Bobbins back into the cage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Bobbins.

Out pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Bobbins displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Out.
Out defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Bobbins.

Bobbins has Out up against the cage in a clinch.
Out drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Bobbins gets the underhooks and prevents it.
A shot in the inside from Out.

Out tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
A short right from Out on the inside.
Out tries a knee to the head but Bobbins blocks it.
Bobbins stops a takedown attempt from Out.
Out has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Bobbins after a bit of a struggle.
Out makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Out's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Out looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Bobbins fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Out gets tackled into the cage by Bobbins. Bobbins maintains the clinch.

Bobbins wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Out has him pressed against the cage.
Out is working for takedown but Bobbins is calmly controlling the position for now.
Out lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Bobbins or not.
Out makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Bobbins is looking for a takedown.
Bobbins takes a shot to the head.
Out tries to score a body lock takedown but Bobbins shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
A short right from Out on the inside.

Out gets control of Bobbins's arms and successfully pulls guard. Out will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Bobbins wants to control from the top but Out keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bobbins is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Out is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Bobbins thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Bobbins drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bobbins jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Out has a closed guard, preventing Bobbins from standing up.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Out holds on and takes a little breather.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Bobbins won't allow Out to sweep him here.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

And that's the end of the fight!
Watch Out comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Out has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
