Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Johny Vargas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matthew Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vargas comes into the arena with Drake - Trophies blaring out of the sound system. Matthew Jones has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Johny Vargas's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johny Vargas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Matthew Jones!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vargas uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jones.
Nice body punch from Jones.
Jones lands a nice hook to Vargas's body. Vargas takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
A combination from Vargas does no damage.
Jones rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Vargas moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Vargas has taken the fight to the clinch.
Vargas blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
A bit of stalling here from Jones.
Jones misses with a short punch on the inside.
Jones doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Jones swings wildly with an uppercut but Vargas uses good head movement to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Vargas wants to take the fight to the mat but Jones manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Vargas has hold of one of Jones's legs. Jones is fighting the takedown attempt but Vargas gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Vargas postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

We've been hearing that Vargas has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vargas is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Vargas cracks Jones with a solid left hand.
Jones can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Vargas controls the pace.

Vargas throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jones works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Vargas makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth.
Jones wants to stand but Vargas is controlling the position.

Vargas postures up and lands a big shot to Jones's brow.
Jones is looking to stand up but Vargas isn't so interested in that idea.

Vargas slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Vargas looks up at the clock and then as Jones takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Vargas smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Vargas lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Vargas is putting a hurting on Jones here, landing some big shots from side control.
Jones wants to get back to his feet but Vargas drags him back down.

Jones is rocked!
Vargas is staying tight to Jones's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Jones is still in real trouble! Can Vargas finish him?

Vargas scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Jones is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Vargas can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
