The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Thunda closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Thunda tries to kick Menchov off but Menchov keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Thunda has hold of Menchov's hands but Menchov slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Menchov thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Thunda wants to get back to full guard.
Menchov thows a huge punch but Thunda dodges it nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Menchov seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Thunda pushes Menchov off and gets back to his feet.
Menchov tries to clinch up.
Menchov is looking to clinch but Thunda is avoiding it.

Thunda closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Thunda is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Menchov will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Menchov is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Menchov is pressing down on Thunda's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Menchov is looking to sinch up a triangle. Thunda throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Menchov's body to avoid the submission. Menchov has instead reached around Thunda's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Menchov arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
