PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Maxim Lavrov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cedric Lancaster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Lavrov might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Hurt- Johnny Cash. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Alan Glass and Wesley Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lavrov drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Lancaster has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Lavrov is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Lancaster forces Lavrov back against the cage and clinches.
Lavrov tries to break free but Lancaster pushes him back against the cage.
Lavrov misses with a punch to the body.
Lavrov changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Lancaster fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Lancaster moves into the clinch.
Lancaster lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Lavrov drops down looking for an ankle pick but Lancaster pulls his leg out and moves away.
Lancaster leaves Lavrov with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Maxim Lavrov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lavrov shoots and misses
and Lancaster counters with a nice uppercut.
Lancaster ducks under a wild hook from Lavrov.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lavrov throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Lavrov backing away here, and Lancaster unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
Lavrov throws a wild body kick that Lancaster sees coming a mile off.
Lavrov throws an overhand right that lands on Lancaster 's shoulder, as Lancaster tries to avoid the shot.

Lavrov shoots in for a double leg but Lancaster sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Lancaster slips a straight right by Lavrov.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lavrov tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lancaster swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Lavrov moves forwards but Lancaster connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Lancaster clinches up against the cage.
Lancaster digs a right hand underneath Lavrov's ribcage. Lavrov let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Lancaster cracks Lavrov with a nice body shot.
Lancaster gets through Lavrov's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Lancaster makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Lavrov's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Lancaster scores with a shoulder strike.
Lavrov is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Lancaster creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Lancaster digs a right hand into Lavrov's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Lavrov's gas tank.
Lavrov is breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lancaster gets through Lavrov's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
A right hook to the body lands for Lancaster .
Lancaster lands a hook that snaps the head of Lavrov backwards.

Lavrov is rocked!
Lancaster cracks Lavrov with a nice body shot.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Lancaster .
Lancaster throws a big uppercut that drops Lavrov! More strikes from Lancaster and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Lavrov lies dazed against the cage as Lancaster celebrates with his cornermen!

Cedric Lancaster spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
Maxim Lavrov spoke after the fight, saying 'I'll be back!'.
