PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Clark Kent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vitor Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vitor Silva will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Clark Kent!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Vitor Silva!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva shoots in but no luck this time.
Kent dodges the punch combination from Silva.
Silva is looking to clinch.
Silva will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Silva misses with a takedown attempt - Kent sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Silva looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kent is fending him off so far but Silva persists. Nope, Kent circles away and we're back to standing.
Clark Kent has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vitor Silva.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kent feints and as Silva raises his hands in defense, Kent changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Silva throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Kent escapes and throws Silva's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Silva can't do much from the bottom here.

Kent is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Silva is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Silva is trying to get back to half guard.
Silva wants to control but Kent postures up.
Kent is breathing heavily.
Silva is trying to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ground and pound from Kent seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Silva manages to get back to half guard.
Kent looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Silva is trying to control but Kent passes into side control!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kent is looking to take a break and control but Silva is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Kent tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Clark Kent dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Silva gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Kent counters with a single leg into guard. Silva didn't expect that.
Silva is trying to control the position but Kent postures up.
Kent pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Silva is keeping the position for now.
Silva controls Kent momentarily but Kent frees himself.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Silva is looking for a triangle but Kent pushes his legs off easily.

Silva has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Kent off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Nice takedown defense from Kent. No joy for Silva on that attempt.
Silva doesn't manage to clinch there - Kent circles away.

Silva moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Silva looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kent is fending him off so far but Silva persists. Nope, Kent circles away and we're back to standing.
Clark Kent has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vitor Silva.
Silva shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kent pinned against the cage. Kent gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Silva closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kent wants to control but Silva is keeping busy.
Silva seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kent does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Silva wants to pass to mount but Kent is defending the position.
Silva thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kent's head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Kent looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Kent is staying active underneath Silva, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Silva moves nicely into side control.
Kent tries to bench press Silva off him but Silva keeps the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Vitor Silva will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Kent avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Silva fails with a takedown attempt.
Horrible takedown by Silva or perhaps it was just good defense by Kent which made him look bad.
Silva tries for a takedown but Kent sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Silva gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Kent sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Silva's guard.
Silva makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Silva.
Kent works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Silva tries to roll over but Kent keeps him under control.

Kent is looking for a kimura here.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Kent here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Silva is looking to control Kent's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Silva avoid being mounted?

Kent is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Silva is looking to improve his position.
Silva wants to control but Kent is keeping busy.

And that's the end of the fight!
Clark Kent showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Kent has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
