PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joe Ingram (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Pantera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pantera is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Pantera / Domination . Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Ingram!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jimmy Pantera!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ingram instigates a clinch.
Pantera lands a hook to the side of the head.
Pantera softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Ingram's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
We've been hearing reports that Ingram has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Pantera misses with a short punch on the inside.
Pantera tries a body shot but Ingram blocks it.

Pantera gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Ingram regains guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pantera stopping the sweep attempt from Ingram.
Pantera tries to stand but Ingram is controlling from the bottom.
Pantera wants to pass the guard but Ingram is keeping the position.
Ingram is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Ingram wants to sweep but no luck.
Ingram striking off his back but it's not causing Pantera any problems.
Pantera really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ingram. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ingram wants to sweep here but Pantera controlling him for the moment.
Pantera is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ingram working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pantera doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pantera manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Pantera engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Pantera wants to stand but Ingram has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Ingram manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pantera manages to get himself to full guard.

Pantera is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Ingram dives into side control.
Ingram lands a nice forearm strike.
Ingram works to advance to full mount. Pantera defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Ingram cracks Pantera with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Pantera can't escape the position.
Ingram landing strikes from the mount and Pantera is in trouble!
Ingram lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pantera is trying to escape the mount.
Pantera avoids a series of strikes thrown by Ingram.
Ingram can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Pantera is looking to escape.
Pantera told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Ingram lands with some strikes.

Ingram looking to secure an arm triangle but Pantera defends it well.
Pantera really wants to buck Ingram off and get back to his feet.
Pantera holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Ingram tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Pantera is desperately trying to improve his position but Ingram has a good base and remains in mount.
Ingram scores with a couple of good head shots there.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pantera can do anything to dispel that myth.
Poor strikes thrown by Ingram there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Ingram controlling his opponent.
Ingram throwing strikes but Pantera bucks up and reverses the position. He's now in guard on top.

Ingram looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Pantera wants to control from the top but Ingram keeps moving.

Ingram is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pantera defends well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Ingram dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Ingram drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Pantera throws a body shot but no joy.
Ingram keeps the fight on the outside.
Ingram blocks a jab.

Ingram shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Pantera tries to kick Ingram off but Ingram keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ingram is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Ingram tries to pass the half guard into mount. Pantera knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pantera is looking to improve his position.
Ingram is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Pantera can do to turn this around?
Pantera wants to control but Ingram is keeping busy.
Ingram stops Pantera from getting back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ingram is thwarting Pantera's attempts to control the position.
Ingram with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Pantera is looking to escape.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Pantera fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Pantera shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Ingram tries to get to full guard but Pantera has control of the leg.
Ingram gets back to full guard.

Ingram is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Pantera frees his head nicely. Oh but Ingram has switched to an armbar! Pantera is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
