Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kenny Knight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ed Newport (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Michael Johnstone and Sandra Marshall.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newport throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Newport misses with a wild body shot.

Knight fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Newport , pushing him back against the cage.
Knight slowing the pace effectively.
A nice left hand lands by Newport .

Knight jumps guard.
Knight manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Newport manages to get himself to full guard.

Knight throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Newport works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Knight stops Newport from standing up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Knight controls from within his opponent's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Newport wants to stand and escape but Knight is having none of it.
Knight is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Knight wants to control from the top but Newport keeps moving.
Knight trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Newport really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Knight. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Knight drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Knight jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Ed Newport is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Knight tries to keep at a distance but Newport has taken the fight into the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Knight's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Newport working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.

Knight pulls guard successfully.
Knight looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Knight not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Newport decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Newport works Knight's body with a nice hook.
Knight misses with a takedown attempt
and Newport counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Knight is breathing heavily.

Knight takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Newport connects with a superb combination that knocks Knight out cold! The referee charges across the mat and tackles Newport before he can land any more shots to the unconscious Knight!
