PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dong Kaze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kristian Eivind Espedal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eivind Espedal has chosen Incipit Satan as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dong Kaze!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kristian Eivind Espedal!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, William Peck and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Eivind Espedal drives through and clinches with Kaze against the cage.
Eivind Espedal keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Kaze's efforts to push away.
Kaze goes for a takedown in the clinch but Eivind Espedal prevents it.
Eivind Espedal tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Eivind Espedal misses with some punches.
A nice left hand lands by Eivind Espedal.
Kaze is trying to force a seperation but Eivind Espedal has the dominant position.

Eivind Espedal pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Eivind Espedal gets a clinch.
Eivind Espedal unloads a knee to the mid-section.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kaze being controlled against the cage.
Kaze fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Eivind Espedal misses with a body punch.

Kaze has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Eivind Espedal pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Eivind Espedal is looking to clinch.
Kaze shoots in looking for a takedown. Eivind Espedal tries to sprawl out of it but Kaze keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Eivind Espedal manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Kaze fails to pull guard.
Kaze misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Eivind Espedal.

Eivind Espedal is trying to push Kaze away but Kaze has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Kaze is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Kaze tries to land knees in the clinch but Eivind Espedal avoids the damage to the body.

Kaze decides to pull guard.

Kaze had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Eivind Espedal defends it easily.
Eivind Espedal wants to control from the top but Kaze keeps moving.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Eivind Espedal accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Eivind Espedal stands and steps away. Kaze gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Eivind Espedal gets caught flat footed, as Kaze shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Eivind Espedal doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Kaze throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Eivind Espedal works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Eivind Espedal looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Eivind Espedal wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Kaze is now in half guard.
Kaze is taking a breather. Eivind Espedal says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Kaze is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Kaze is looking for a kimura but Eivind Espedal is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kaze to get the leverage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kristian Eivind Espedal dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Excellent takedown into side control there by Kaze.
Kaze works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Eivind Espedal has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Kaze remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Kaze is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Kaze has good solid back control here.

Kaze is persistently looking for the submission but Eivind Espedal is defending it well.

Kaze has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Eivind Espedal has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Kaze is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

You can see the frustration on Eivind Espedal's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Kaze changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Eivind Espedal looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kaze in particular looking to stall.
Kaze seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Kaze cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!


It looks like Kristian Eivind Espedal has been cut.

Kaze is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Eivind Espedal can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Kaze is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Eivind Espedal has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Kaze just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
