Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dennis Reynolds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ravi Pillay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pillay is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by AC/DC - Thunderstruck. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dennis Reynolds!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ravi Pillay!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Reed Andrews and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reynolds shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Pillay's guard.
Pillay tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Pillay is trying to control the position but Reynolds postures up.
Reynolds looking to pass the guard.
Reynolds trying to control but Pillay is working from the bottom.
Pillay looking for a sweep. Not yet Pillay, not yet.
Pillay is pulling down on Reynolds's head to control his posture.
Pillay is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Reynolds lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Reynolds.
Pillay pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Pillay wants to hit a switch here but Reynolds passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Pillay there!

Reynolds is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Pillay can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Reynolds wants to control the action but instead Pillay gets a body lock and reverses into Reynolds's guard! Nice work!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Reynolds has managed to clinch.
Reynolds is trying to maintain a safe position but Pillay gets an underhook and turns Reynolds into the cage.
Reynolds drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Reynolds gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Pillay regains guard.
Pillay is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Reynolds accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Pillay escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Reynolds gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Pillay manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Reynolds manages to get himself to full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Reynolds is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Pillay stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Reynolds swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Pillay slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Reynolds gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Pillay wants to stand up but Reynolds is controlling the position.

Pillay looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Reynolds counters with a stiff right hand.

Reynolds closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Reynolds is keen to just control but Pillay is a slippery customer.
Reynolds thows a huge punch but Pillay dodges it nicely.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Reynolds connects with a nice short shot to Pillay's temple.
Reynolds wants to take a breather but Pillay is having none of it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Reynolds changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pillay tries to avoid it but Reynolds manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pillay to the ground. Pillay escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Pillay tries to roll over but Reynolds keeps him under control.

Reynolds frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Pillay is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

You get the feeling that Pillay really doesn't like being in this position too much.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pillay wants to hold on but Reynolds pushes him away.

Reynolds lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Pillay tries to close the distance and clinch up but Reynolds swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Well Reynolds has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
