Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oleg Minakov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jimmy Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Oleg Minakov!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Minakov gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Minakov uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Diaz.
Diaz tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Diaz goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Minakov turns into him and now he's in Diaz's guard.

Diaz throws his legs up looking for a submission but Minakov uses it to pass to side control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Diaz is looking to regain half guard here but Minakov keeps moving and retains side control.
Diaz is letting Minakov control him for a moment.
Diaz sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Diaz tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Diaz wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Diaz is looking for a sweep. Minakov is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Minakov is thwarting Diaz's attempts to control the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Minakov as he avoids it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jimmy Diaz will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Diaz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Minakov tries to avoid it but Diaz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Minakov to the ground. Minakov escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown but Minakov shows good takedown defense.
Minakov moves out of range as Diaz throws a body kick.
Diaz throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Minakov rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Diaz moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Minakov as he jumps to the side.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Minakov can do anything to dispel that myth.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Minakov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Diaz in particular looking to stall.

Diaz is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Minakov defends it well.
