Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Peter Piper!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Piper fails with an attempt to clinch.
Piper moves in looking to clinch but Desalvo pushes him off.
Piper shoots in looking for a takedown. Desalvo tries to sprawl out of it but Piper keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Desalvo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Piper wants to clinch.
Piper moves in looking to clinch but Desalvo pushes him off.
Piper fails with an attempt to clinch.

Piper changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Desalvo looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Piper wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Desalvo, who protects the arm well.
Desalvo is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Piper seems to be looking for submissions.

Piper is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Piper looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Piper has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Piper goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Desalvo turns into him and now he's in Piper's guard.

Piper has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Desalvo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Desalvo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Desalvo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Desalvo drops back looking for a leg! Piper is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Piper manages to kick Desalvo off! Desalvo jumps back into Piper's guard.
Piper seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Piper looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Desalvo passes into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Peter Piper will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Desalvo defending well as Piper loads up on a big left hand.
Piper wants to clinch up but Desalvo keeps it at a distance.

Piper fails to land the takedown.
The fight stays on the outside here - Piper looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Piper ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Desalvo moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No joy there for Desalvo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Peter Piper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Piper tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Desalvo swivels and escapes.
Piper scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Desalvo takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Piper moves in looking to clinch but Desalvo pushes him off.
Piper throws a head kick but Desalvo moves out of range.
Piper tries to close the distance and clinch up but Desalvo swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Piper throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Desalvo clinches.

Desalvo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Piper ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Desalvo moves away.
Piper looks for the body kick but Desalvo saw that one coming.

Desalvo lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Piper throws a sloppy head kick and Desalvo moves out of range easily.
Desalvo circles away from the clinch attempt

and Desalvo counters by clinching up.

Desalvo pulls guard.
Desalvo looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Piper is looking to advance position but Desalvo has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Desalvo avoids the attempt from Piper to control.

Piper regains half guard.

Piper is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Desalvo pulls his head out easily.

Piper looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Desalvo pushes past his half guard into mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Piper tries to improve his position but Desalvo has taken his back! Desalvo has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Piper tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Desalvo pushes Piper away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Albert Desalvo!
