Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Randy Ortiz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Lewis!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Dean Styles and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lewis gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Ortiz to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Lewis looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Ortiz sitting in guard here, content to control.

Ortiz decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ortiz throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Ortiz closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Lewis quickly recovers to half guard.

Ortiz definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Ortiz seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Lewis for as long as he can get away with.

Ortiz is working for a submission of some sort.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lewis has hold of Ortiz's hands but Ortiz slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Lewis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ortiz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ortiz is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Lewis felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Ortiz decides to return to a standing position.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Ortiz has managed to clinch.

Ortiz decides to pull guard.
Ortiz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Ortiz is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ortiz looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Lewis with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Still in half guard, Ortiz seems content to control.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ortiz lands with a punch from half guard.

Ortiz has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Lewis regains guard immediately.

Ortiz works his way into full mount!

Ortiz gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lewis goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Ortiz is working for takedown but Lewis is calmly controlling the position for now.

Lewis tries to sprawl but Ortiz drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Lewis is trying to maintain the position but Ortiz is very close to passing his half guard.
Ortiz keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Ortiz lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Lewis is in trouble now - Ortiz has advanced to mount!

Ortiz working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Lewis turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Ortiz off and cradles Lewis's limp body as Ortiz celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Randy Ortiz!
