Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kenny Mcfadden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edward Newgate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Edward Newgate has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Kenny Mcfadden's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Edward Newgate!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newgate misses with a looping left.
Mcfadden shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Newgate pinned against the cage. Newgate gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Mcfadden dives in for a single leg takedown but Newgate sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Mcfadden closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Mcfadden prevents Newgate from improving his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Newgate is not content to let Mcfadden control the position.

Newgate manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Mcfadden wants to clinch up but Newgate keeps it at a distance.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Newgate is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Newgate wants to stand up but Mcfadden is controlling him.

Newgate is pulling down on Mcfadden's head. It's preventing any offense from Mcfadden, at least for the moment.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mcfadden postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Newgate has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mcfadden can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Newgate is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mcfadden defends well.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mcfadden is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Newgate holds on and takes a little breather.

Newgate moves into the clinch successfully.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Newgate. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Mcfadden tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Newgate smiles and moves away.
Mcfadden connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Newgate momentarily.
Newgate has a takedown stuffed.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Newgate is pressed up against the cage. Mcfadden has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Newgate down to the mat. Newgate avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Mcfadden misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Horrible takedown attempt by Newgate or perhaps it was just good defense by Mcfadden, which made it look bad.

Newgate tries to break free but Mcfadden pushes him back against the cage.
Newgate is trying to drag Mcfadden to the mat but Mcfadden just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Mcfadden's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Mcfadden manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Mcfadden escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Mcfadden is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Newgate is aware though and is defending well.
Mcfadden might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Mcfadden is looking to stand up but Newgate isn't so interested in that idea.
Newgate stands and throws Mcfadden's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Newgate is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Newgate is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Mcfadden is defending well though. Newgate let's go of the attempt for now.
