Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jarvis Booth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Vasiliy Lomachenko!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Josh West and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lomachenko tries to close the distance and clinch but Booth swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Lomachenko throws a left and a right that both miss

and Booth counters by moving into the clinch.
Lomachenko tries to pull guard but Booth won't allow it.
Booth managing to block the knees to the body from Lomachenko.
Lomachenko is looking to break free of the clinch but Booth has double underhooks.
Lomachenko goes for a takedown attempt but Booth pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

and Booth counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Booth.
Jarvis Booth has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vasiliy Lomachenko.

Booth has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Lomachenko uses from the top position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Booth is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lomachenko defends well.

Booth is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Lomachenko is looking to work some ground and pound but Booth has wrist control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lomachenko tries to stand but Booth is controlling from the bottom.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Booth is adopting a defensive guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Lomachenko shoots in looking for a takedown but Booth manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lomachenko's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Lomachenko presses Booth against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Booth breaks the clinch.

and Booth counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lomachenko changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Booth fights it off and pushes away nicely.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lomachenko is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Booth defends well.

Booth gets to his feet - Lomachenko follows without any prompting.
Lomachenko fails with an attempt to clinch.
Booth stuffs the takedown attempt from Lomachenko. Lomachenko gets slowly back to his feet.
Lomachenko shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Booth as he avoids it easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Booth is looking to counter the offense by Lomachenko and move into the clinch.
Lomachenko misses with the body kick

and Booth counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Lomachenko!
Lomachenko has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Booth lands an elbow.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Booth decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Booth tightens his grip and picks Lomachenko up, before dumping him to the ground. Lomachenko manages to land in guard.
Booth is standing up over Lomachenko. Lomachenko looks to escape but Booth dives into side control.
Booth knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lomachenko on the ground.

Lomachenko tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Booth has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Lomachenko is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Booth yanks on the arm and Lomachenko is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Booth.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jarvis Booth!
