PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Viktor Krum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Koski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Krum comes into the arena with Explosive by Bond blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Viktor Krum!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Juan Koski!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koski does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Krum looks for the body kick but Koski saw that one coming.
The fighters circling - Krum throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Koski feints the counter takedown.
Krum throws a hook to the side of Koski's head but Koski sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Krum walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Krum throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

and Koski counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Krum kicks Koski off and gets back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Koski lands with a nice combination. Krum backs away looking to recover.

Koski rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Krum moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Krum's corner calls for a 1-2. Krum obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Koski shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Krum is trying to defend but Koski finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Krum has momentary wrist control but Koski slips an elbow through the middle.

Krum lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Koski is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Krum drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Krum jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Krum got a little sloppy there for a moment and Koski has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Krum has managed to get both his arms back between Koski's legs - danger averted.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Koski is trying to drag Krum to the mat but Krum just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Koski goes for a takedown attempt but Krum pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Koski blocks a low kick nicely.
Crunch! Krum slams his shin into Koski's torso.
Koski shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Krum, as that shot connected.


It looks like Juan Koski has been cut.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Koski throws a head kick but Krum moves out of range.
Koski ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Krum moves away.
Krum is looking to counter punch.
Viktor Krum is winning the standup battle so far.
Krum is looking to slow Koski down with leg kicks.
No joy there for Koski, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Krum appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
