Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimmie Connor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diego Vargas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jimmie Connor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Diego Vargas!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vargas doesn't manage to clinch there - Connor circles away.
Connor throws a big counter combination but Vargas scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Vargas moves into the clinch.
Connor wants a takedown.
With the fighters up against the cage, Vargas throws an elbow but misses.

Connor has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Vargas uses from the top position.
Connor pulls Vargas in to control the position.
Connor is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Connor has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Connor gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Vargas blocks a head kick by Connor.
Connor keeps the fight on the outside.

Connor tries to keep at a distance but Vargas has taken the fight into the clinch.
Connor blocks an elbow strike.

Vargas's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Connor misses with a hook. Vargas ducked under it nicely.

Vargas closes the distance and pushes Connor back into the cage.
Vargas keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Connor's efforts to push away.
Vargas is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Connor is keeping busy.
Vargas trying to control the position but instead, Connor has worked for underhooks and has pushed Vargas into the cage.

Connor is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Connor drags the fight down to the ground.
Connor tries to strike from the bottom.
Connor is pulling down on Vargas's head. It's preventing any offense from Vargas, at least for the moment.

Connor working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vargas doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Vargas manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Connor wants to sweep here but Vargas controlling him for the moment.

Vargas has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Connor is proving hard to escape from.

Connor looking for a triangle here. Vargas is fighting it but it looks tight! Connor pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Vargas is tapping out - this one is all over!

Jimmie Connor spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
