Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Maximov!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diegs shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Maximov but Maximov pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Nice takedown defense from Diegs. No joy for Maximov on that attempt.

Ivan Maximov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Maximov closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Still in half guard, Maximov seems content to control.
Maximov is working for a kimura but Diegs is defending it quite comfortably.
Diegs is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Maximov scores with a couple of nice shots.

Maximov wants to work for an arm triangle but Diegs is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Maximov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Diegs trying to hold on to Maximov's head to control him but Maximov postures up.
Maximov looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Diegs with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Diegs has a hand on Maximov's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Maximov takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Diegs defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Maximov.
Maximov postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Diegs looks a forlorn figure.
Maximov working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Diegs looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Maximov! Submission of the night perhaps?
