PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chris Hudson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Barron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sean Barron told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chris Hudson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sean Barron!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Bruno Hogan and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hudson clinches up against the cage.

Barron successfully pulls guard.
Hudson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Barron works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hudson stands up and waves to Barron to follow him.

Barron decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Hudson pushes Barron off and gets back to his feet.
Hudson really is a fat lump.
Barron throws a leg kick

and Hudson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hudson lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Barron wants to stand but Hudson is controlling the position.
Hudson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Barron works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Hudson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Hudson stands and steps away. Barron gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Barron changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hudson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Hudson throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
A head kick by Barron misses

and Hudson counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Barron looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Hudson presses Barron against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Hudson keeps control of Barron as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Barron is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Barron lands a takedown into guard.

Hudson wriggles free and stands up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Barron tries a head kick but it misses.
Barron misses with a hook

and Hudson counters by clinching up.
Stalling in the clinch from Hudson.
Hudson controlling the action here for a moment.
Barron tries to work over Hudson's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Barron wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Hudson has him pressed against the cage.

Barron has Hudson pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Barron pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Hudson tumbling to the mat - Barron dives into Hudson's guard.

Hudson scrambles and gets back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hudson keeps the fight on the outside.

Barron scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The fighters are battling for position here. Hudson manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Hudson trying to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hudson pulls Barron in close to prevent any damage.

Hudson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Barron gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Barron content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Hudson has locked up a guillotine! Hudson's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Barron is holding on here and Hudson must be using up a lot of energy. Barron has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Hudson gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Chris Hudson!
