Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Zolnikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joos Frank (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Alexander Zolnikov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Joos Frank!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Sandra Marshall and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zolnikov throws a combination that misses

and Frank counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Zolnikov is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Frank presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Frank tries to land a knee to the head but Zolnikov blocks with his arms.
Zolnikov has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Frank after a bit of a struggle.
Zolnikov is trying to pull guard but Frank has him pressed against the cage.

Frank is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Zolnikov can't fight it off and eventually Frank manages to take the fight to the floor. Zolnikov looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Frank not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Zolnikov is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Frank dives into side control.

Frank tries to move into full mount but can't pass Zolnikov's legs.

Zolnikov takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Frank prevents Zolnikov from escaping the position.

Frank misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Frank throws a strike aimed at the side of Zolnikov's head but Zolnikov avoids it well.
Frank just content to control the position.
Frank has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Frank won't let Zolnikov get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Frank controlling the position easily from mount.
Zolnikov's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
BOOM! Frank connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joos Frank dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


A combination from Zolnikov does no damage.

Frank fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Zolnikov sprawls well initially but Frank persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Zolnikov wants to get back to his feet.

Frank gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Alexander Zolnikov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zolnikov throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Frank is looking for the big counter here.
Frank scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

and Frank counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Frank slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Frank is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Frank happy to just control the position for now.

Zolnikov might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Frank has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Frank dodges the punch combination from Zolnikov.

Frank pushes Zolnikov up against the cage in a clinch.

Frank wants a takedown.

Frank manages to break the clinch.
Frank slips a jab and a cross from Zolnikov.
Zolnikov takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Frank closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Frank lands in his opponent's guard.
Frank is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Frank is continuing to stall.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Frank's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Zolnikov being controlled here, momentarily.
Let's hope that Frank has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Frank in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Zolnikov misses with a wild combination.

Frank shoots in and bounces Zolnikov off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Frank is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Frank decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joos Frank showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Zolnikov fails to land with a series of punches.
Frank throws a counter combo.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Zolnikov throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Frank.

Zolnikov throws a left and a right that both miss

and Frank counters with a takedown into side control.
Zolnikov tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Frank controlling the position well here. Zolnikov rolled but Frank kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Joos Frank is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Alexander Zolnikov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Frank has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
