The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Alves darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Smalls tries to kick Alves off in order to stand up. Alves Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smalls is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Alves has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Smalls!
Smalls wants to control but Alves is having none of it.
Alves controlling his opponent.
Alves is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Smalls is in real trouble.

Smalls has hold of Alves's leg, trying to break free but it's let Alves lock up a rear naked choke! This could be big trouble! Smalls is turning an unusual color here… he's out! Alves throws him to one side and jumps onto the cage to celebrate with his fans.
