PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joesph Walls (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adriaan Visser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Joesph Walls!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Adriaan Visser!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Kenichi Hosakawa and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walls shoots in looking for a takedown but Visser manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Walls's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Walls stuffs the takedown attempt from Visser. Visser gets slowly back to his feet.
Visser throws a nice inside leg kick.

Visser clinches with his opponent.

Visser jumps guard and drags Walls to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Visser is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Visser has a closed guard, preventing Walls from standing up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Walls is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Visser has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Walls is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Visser pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Visser manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Walls on his heels. He'll look to pass Walls's guard now, I'm sure.

Visser postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Visser got a little sloppy there for a moment and Walls has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Visser has managed to get both his arms back between Walls's legs - danger averted.
Walls tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Visser stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Visser moves into the clinch successfully.

Walls is fighting off a takedown attempt but Visser is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Walls to the mat. Walls regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Walls is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Walls has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Visser has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Walls has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Visser is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Visser decides to pull guard.
Visser wants to sweep but no luck.
Visser looks winded!
Walls wants to stand but Visser is controlling his posture from full guard.
Visser working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Walls.

Walls sitting in guard here, content to control.
Walls seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Visser for as long as he can get away with.
Visser is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Walls is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Visser gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Visser is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Walls gets to his feet - Visser follows without any prompting.

Walls closes the distance and clinches up with Visser, looking for a takedown. Walls pushes Visser against the cage but Visser circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Visser is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joesph Walls. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Walls.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Visser tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Walls shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Walls showed some decent athleticism there.
Well, if Walls is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Walls decides to stand up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Adriaan Visser dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Walls shoots for a takedown but Visser saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Visser takes the fight into the clinch.
Walls tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Visser smiles and moves away.

Visser instigates a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Visser lands an elbow just above Walls 's eye.


It looks like Joesph Walls has been cut.

Visser drags the fight down to the ground.
Walls trying to control the position from guard on top but Visser is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Walls is stalling in the full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Visser is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Walls is aware though and is defending well.
Visser is breathing heavily.
Walls stops Visser from standing up.
Visser has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Walls sitting in guard here, content to control.
Connects with an elbow from the bottom, proving to the judges that he's still active off his back.
Walls wants to stand and escape but instead Visser has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Visser wanted to stand there but Walls had control of the position.

Walls is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Visser controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Visser stands up from Walls's guard - Visser perhaps looking for a knockout.
Walls tries to clinch but Visser moves out of range.
Walls on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Visser throws a head kick but Walls moves out of range.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Walls shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joesph Walls. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Visser closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Visser lands in his opponent's guard.

Walls is looking to cinch up a triangle. Visser throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Walls's body to avoid the submission. Walls has instead reached around Visser's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Walls arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Joesph Walls!
