PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alka Mangrove (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Great Gonzo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mangrove checks a leg kick nicely.
Gonzo works over Mangrove's head and body with a nice combination.
Gonzo pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nice uppercut lands for Mangrove. That snapped Gonzo's head back.
Mangrove throws a leg kick but Gonzo sees it coming and moves out of range.
Gonzo throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Gonzo scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Mangrove just misses with a elbow thrown towards Gonzo's brow.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Gonzo takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Mangrove can't find room to land a body shot as Gonzo controls the action.

Mangrove has hold of one of Gonzo's legs. Gonzo is fighting the takedown attempt but Mangrove gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Gonzo looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Mangrove has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Gonzo.

Gonzo has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.

Gonzo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mangrove, pushing him back against the cage.
Mangrove throws an elbow but it misses.
Mangrove lands an elbow that stopped Gonzo in his tracks for a moment.
Mangrove tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Gonzo's elbow.
Gonzo has a couple of punches blocked by Mangrove.

It looks like Great Gonzo has been cut.

Still in the clinch, Gonzo scores with a nice short uppercut.

That was a close round but I would say that Alka Mangrove will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Great Gonzo's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Mangrove is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Gonzo sees it coming and defends easily.
We've been hearing good reports from Mangrove's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
