The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The crowd cheers as Jones lands an impressive looking overhand right. Gatsby doesn't seem phased though.

Gatsby is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jones doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gatsby.

Jones has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gatsby is working away from the top position though.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth.

Gatsby feints and as Jones raises his hands in defense, Gatsby changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gatsby accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Jones wants to stand but Gatsby is controlling the position.
Gatsby won't allow Jones to sweep him here.
Joe Gatsby overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gatsby is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jones defends it well.

Gatsby has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Jones defend it? Gatsby steps over the head and cranks it - Jones is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Gatsby!
