Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Fausto Ayers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lee Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Ben Hemmingworth and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Hughes darts in and clinches Ayers up against the cage.
Hughes tries to pull guard but Ayers holds him up against the cage and eventually Hughes drops back down to his feet.
A left hand lands to the body for Ayers.

Hughes manages to pull guard.
Hughes is controlling Ayers's posture.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hughes looking for a sweep. Not yet Hughes, not yet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hughes wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Hughes is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Ayers decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Hughes defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ayers.
Hughes throws a body kick that misses.
Ayers tries for a takedown but Hughes circles away easily

and Hughes counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hughes.
Hughes tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Hughes fails to pull guard.
Fausto Ayers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lee Hughes.
Ayers tries to pull guard but Hughes forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Ayers jumps into guard, dragging Hughes to the mat.
Hughes works over Ayers with some ground and pound from guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hughes is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
It looks like Hughes might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Ayers wants to stand and escape but Hughes is having none of it.
Hughes scoring with some ground and pound.
Ayers is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Hughes trying to control the position from guard on top but Ayers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ayers is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hughes is controlling him.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Hughes has taken the fight to the clinch.

Hughes pulls guard.

Ayers drops back looking for a leg! Hughes is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hughes manages to kick Ayers off! Ayers jumps back into Hughes's guard.
Hughes wants to improve his position but instead Ayers has moved into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Hughes is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ayers pulls his head out easily.
Ayers is thwarting Hughes's attempts to control the position.
Hughes keeping hold of Ayers's head, controlling as best he can.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hughes has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ayers is working away from the top position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lee Hughes dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Hughes falls off balance throwing a combination
and Ayers counters with a three punch combo that has Hughes backing up. Hughes nods at Ayers to acknowledge the strikes.
Nice sprawl there from Hughes as Ayers shoots in.

Ayers closes the distance and clinches.

Hughes gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Hughes is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Ayers is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Ayers has escaped and now he's on top!

Ayers wants to stand but Hughes is controlling his posture from full guard.

Hughes has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Ayers doesn't defend quickly enough and Hughes has managed to lock this one up! Can Ayers escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Hughes on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Lee Hughes!
