Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Denis Petrov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Jozic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ben Jozic is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Petrov feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Jozic wants to sweep but no luck.

Petrov is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Petrov seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jozic for as long as he can get away with.

Petrov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Jozic is fighting to break Petrov's control of his arms but Petrov is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Petrov is staying active underneath Jozic, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Petrov preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Petrov tries to roll over but Jozic keeps him under control.

and Petrov counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Jozic's guard now.
Petrov postures up.
Jozic looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Petrov puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Jozic wants to get back to his feet.

Petrov decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Jozic tries to clinch up but Petrov circles away and keeps his distance.

Petrov rushes Jozic and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Petrov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Petrov counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Jozic wants to get back to full guard but Petrov has passed into side control.
