The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Biii misses.
Biii tries a head kick but it misses.

Biii rushes Shaffer and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Biii jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Shaffer walks away with a smile on his face. Biii gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Biii misses with an attempted mid kick.

Shaffer gets caught napping as Biii dives in and scores a takedown. Shaffer manages to retain guard.
Biii must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Biii postures up in Shaffer's guard and throws a big left but Shaffer blocks it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Biii fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Shaffer avoids it really well and circles away.

Biii shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Shaffer manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Shaffer is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
