Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Blake Shaffer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Grant Savage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Blake Shaffer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Grant Savage!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, John Mangel and Topper Green.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Savage throws a lazy head kick
and Shaffer counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Savage!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Shaffer controls the position from side control.
Shaffer lands a nice forearm strike.
Shaffer sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Savage is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shaffer's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Shaffer tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Shaffer has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Savage takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Shaffer working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Shaffer looks up at the clock and then as Savage takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Shaffer smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shaffer works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Savage trying to remain calm as Shaffer controls from the top position.
Shaffer lands a nice forearm strike.
Shaffer in side control, throwing shots but Savage defends.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shaffer is staying tight to Savage's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Shaffer has hold of Savage's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Savage seems comfortable defending it but Shaffer has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Savage is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Savage is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Shaffer couldn't care less - he's delighted!
