Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rigor Mortis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Murder!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Columbo Gatti and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mortis looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Murder is fending him off so far but Mortis persists. Nope, Murder circles away and we're back to standing.
Murder misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Murder throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A head kick misses from Murder.
No luck for Mortis with that takedown attempt.
Mortis tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Murder swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rigor Mortis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Murder connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Murder tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Murder tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Mortis closes the distance and pushes Murder back into the cage.

Mortis will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Mortis counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The referee calls for Mortis to work.
Mortis comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.


It looks like Frank Murder has been cut.

Murder breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Mortis throws a shot to the body.
Murder misses with a hook.
Mortis tries to clinch but Murder is having none of it.
Mortis shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Murder throws a lazy head kick
and Mortis counters with a nice body shot.
The fighters circling - Murder throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Mortis shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Murder as he avoids it easily.
Murder loads up on a big right hand but Mortis slips the punch.

Mortis has managed to clinch.
Mortis jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Murder walks away with a smile on his face. Mortis gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mortis.
Murder falls off balance throwing a combination
and Mortis counters with a left and a right that stings Murder.
Mortis is breathing heavily.
Mortis shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Murder but Murder pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mortis moves away from the strike by Murder.
Murder closes the distance but Mortis moves to the side
and Mortis counters with a series of strikes. Murder will be more careful next time no doubt.
Murder throws a head kick that misses

and Mortis counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Mortis drops an elbow to the side of Murder's head.

Mortis throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Murder scores with a few weak punches.
Murder tries to get to full guard but Mortis has control of the leg.
Mortis looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Murder is doing well to control the position and prevent Mortis from advancing to side control.
Mortis slips a nice elbow through Murder's hands, connecting with Murder's forehead.

Mortis seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Murder does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Mortis avoids a punch combination nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Frank Murder's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Mortis looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Murder is fending him off so far but Mortis persists. Nope, Murder circles away and we're back to standing.

and Mortis counters with a shoot takedown. Murder fights it but they end up in guard.
Murder will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Mortis advances position into side control!
Murder is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Mortis's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Mortis throwing shots but Murder is blocking nicely.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mortis frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mortis connects with a nice short shot to Murder's temple.

Mortis is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Mortis lands a big shot there that rocks Murder but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Mortis is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Murder can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Murder is looking for a sweep. Mortis is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Mortis winds up and cracks Murder with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mortis thows a huge punch but Murder dodges it nicely.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mortis keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Murder's head.

Mortis postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Murder throws out a loose jab but Mortis uses good head movement to avoid it.
Murder throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Mortis counters with a shoot takedown. Murder fights it but they end up in guard.

Murder looking for a sweep. Not yet Murder, not yet.
Murder preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Mortis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Mortis is in close to Murder's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Mortis throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Mortis trying to control but Murder is working from the bottom.

Murder had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Mortis is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Murder Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Mortis's back instead.
Murder doesn't have the hooks in and Mortis manages to turn into his guard.

Murder has his foot on Mortis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mortis works his way back into a safe position though.

Mortis goes for an armbar but Murder turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Murder.

Frank Murder has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Murder lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Rigor Mortis showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mortis, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
