Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ezequiel Wilcox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenji Sao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ezequiel Wilcox has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ezequiel Wilcox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kenji Sao!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Steve Erwin and Ben Watson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sao misses with a looping right.
Sao pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Wilcox displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sao throws out the jab.
Sao looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Sao throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Wilcox was covering up waiting for the punch and Sao finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Wilcox is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Wilcox is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Sao pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Sao pushes off an throws an elbow but Wilcox leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Wilcox tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Sao just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ezequiel Wilcox. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Sao has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Wilcox regains guard immediately.
Sao wants to stand but Wilcox has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Wilcox got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sao has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Wilcox has managed to get both his arms back between Sao's legs - danger averted.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

That was a close round but I would say that Ezequiel Wilcox will probably get the nod.

Wilcox shoots in but no luck this time.

No joy there for Wilcox, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Sao shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Wilcox manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Sao keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Wilcox gets control of Sao's arms and successfully pulls guard. Wilcox will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Sao postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Wilcox is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sao, into his guard.

Sao has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Wilcox is working away from the top position though.
