The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Luis Engracia and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Charles rushes Urlip and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Urlip is looking for a takedown.
Urlip pulls guard successfully.
Charles preventing the sweep.
Urlip is pulling down on Charles's head to control his posture.
Charles trying to control the position from guard on top but Urlip is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Urlip is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Urlip looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Charles postures up in Urlip's guard and throws a big left but Urlip blocks it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Urlip wants to sweep here but Charles controlling him for the moment.
Charles is fighting to break Urlip's control of his arms but Urlip is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Urlip wants to stand but Charles is controlling the position.
Charles with a flurry of punches that miss.
Urlip wants to sweep but no luck.
Urlip has his foot on Charles's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Charles works his way back into a safe position though.
Urlip has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Charles drops back, looking for a kneebar! Urlip looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Urlip looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Urlip!
Urlip tries to advance to mount but can't.
Charles knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Urlip on the ground.
Urlip has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Charles is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Urlip yanks on the arm and Charles is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Urlip.
