Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hong Giles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Kirmayr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Richard Kirmayr has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hong Giles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Richard Kirmayr !
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Leandro Rodrigues and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kirmayr gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Giles drags the fight down to the ground.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Giles throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Giles trying to keep a closed guard but Kirmayr is proving a slippery customer.

Kirmayr gets to his feet. Giles looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Giles closes the distance and clinches up with Kirmayr , looking for a takedown. Giles pushes Kirmayr against the cage but Kirmayr circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
No joy there for Kirmayr , who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Giles throws a quick counter kick to the body but Kirmayr avoids it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Kirmayr .

Kirmayr is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Giles dives into side control.

Giles misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The ground and pound from Giles seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Giles lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Kirmayr down.

Kirmayr is trying to control Giles's posture but Giles avoids it.

Giles swings around for an armbar but Kirmayr sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Giles's guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Giles might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Kirmayr is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Giles tries to get to full guard but Kirmayr has control of the leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Richard Kirmayr will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Kirmayr fails with a takedown attempt.
Giles is looking to counter with a body kick.

Kirmayr darts in and clinches Giles up against the cage.
Kirmayr trying to stall but Giles improves his position.

Giles pulls guard successfully.

Giles has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Kirmayr is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Giles.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Giles wants to control but Kirmayr postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kirmayr decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Kirmayr is breathing heavily.
Giles fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Giles sets himself, and Kirmayr steps forward looking for the clinch! Giles avoids it this time.
Kirmayr throws a sloppy head kick and Giles moves out of range easily.
Kirmayr throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Kirmayr pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Giles tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kirmayr sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Giles somewhat.

Kirmayr rushes Giles and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Knees in the clinch landing for Giles.
Kirmayr looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Giles jumps guard but Kirmayr stands there with Giles around his waist. Giles gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hong Giles. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kirmayr pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Giles fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kirmayr , pushing him back against the cage.
Giles jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kirmayr walks away with a smile on his face. Giles gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Kirmayr counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Kirmayr wants to pass to mount but Giles is defending the position.
Kirmayr is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Kirmayr lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Giles looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Kirmayr decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Giles is defended easily by Kirmayr .
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Richard Kirmayr showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Kirmayr throws a series of punches but Giles avoids them all with ease.

Giles leaves Kirmayr with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Giles dives in for a single leg takedown but Kirmayr sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Giles shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Giles showed some decent athleticism there.

Kirmayr is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Giles scores with a couple of nice shots.
Kirmayr takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Giles thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Giles is stalling here. Kirmayr is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Giles seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Kirmayr has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Giles is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kirmayr pulls his head out easily.
Kirmayr seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Kirmayr is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Giles doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kirmayr .
Kirmayr seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Giles does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Giles wants to improve his position but Kirmayr is controlling well.
Kirmayr lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Kirmayr has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Giles tries to kick Kirmayr off in order to stand up. Kirmayr Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Giles is looking to get back to his feet here but Kirmayr is keeping cool and he's managed to take Giles's back.

Hong Giles has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Richard Kirmayr is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

You can see the frustration on Giles's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Richard Kirmayr comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kirmayr has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
