And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gary Lawler!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Elvis Blanc and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lawler clinches up with Powell and pushes him back against the cage.

Powell has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Lawler clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Lawler is trying escape back to his feet. He turns into his opponent's guard and eventually finds his way back to his feet.

Powell feints and as Lawler raises his hands in defense, Powell changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lawler will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Emmitt Powell overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Powell jumps guard but Lawler turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Powell has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Lawler rushes Powell and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Powell goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Lawler tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Powell just stands there and leans against the cage.
Lawler has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Powell avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Lawler darts in and clinches Powell up against the cage.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Lawler blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Powell is trying to maintain a safe position but Lawler gets an underhook and turns Powell into the cage.

Powell gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Powell fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lawler, pushing him back against the cage.
Lawler is trying to break free.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Powell is trying to stall.
Powell is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Lawler is keeping busy.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Gary Lawler.
I think Lawler has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
