The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Edenberry, right into the meat.
Edenberry tries to score a power double leg takedown but Joyce sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Edenberry somewhat.
Edenberry fails to land with a series of punches.

Edenberry has Joyce up against the cage in a clinch.
Joyce is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Edenberry to keep the fight standing.
Joyce has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Edenberry after a bit of a struggle.

Edenberry escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

As Edenberry tries to get set, Joyce tries to push him back and clinch up but Edenberry manages to avoid the attempt.
Edenberry goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Joyce was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Edenberry throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Joyce counters with a one-two to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Edenberry throws a right hand that Joyce ducks under and follows up with a left that Joyce also avoids with ease.

and Joyce counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Joyce working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Edenberry's head.

Joyce gets to his feet. Edenberry looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Joyce fails with an attempt to clinch.
Joyce takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Joyce dodges the punch combination from Edenberry.

Joyce moves into the clinch.

Joyce ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Joyce no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Joyce is on top in guard.

Joyce stands and steps away. Edenberry gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Joyce tries to close the distance and clinch up but Edenberry swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Edenberry lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Edenberry shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Joyce as he jumps to the side.

That was a close round but I would say that Brain Joyce will probably get the nod.

Edenberry fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Joyce avoids it really well and circles away.
Joyce feinted with a counter takedown.
Joyce has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Edenberry feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Joyce doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Joyce has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
