The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
The Kid lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
The Kid bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by The Kid!

Alvarez feinted there with a counter leg kick.
The Kid looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Alvarez tries to counter with a takedown but The Kid is quick to defend against it.
Alvarez doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

and The Kid counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Alvarez is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Alvarez has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The Kid tests Alvarez's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Alvarez moves away from the strike by The Kid.
Alvarez uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by The Kid.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alvarez doesn't succeed with the takedown
and The Kid connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Alvarez closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. The Kid did well to prevent Alvarez getting side control.
