The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Penn gets a clinch.
Peterson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Peterson tries to break the clinch but Penn is controlling the position.
Penn pushes Peterson back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Penn tightens his grip and picks Peterson up, before dumping him to the ground. Peterson manages to land in guard.
Penn must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Penn postures up in Peterson's guard and throws a big left but Peterson blocks it.

Peterson has his foot on Penn's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Penn works his way back into a safe position though.
Penn throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Peterson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Penn not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Peterson has his foot on Penn's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Penn works his way back into a safe position though.

Penn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Peterson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Penn loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Penn closes the distance and pushes Peterson back into the cage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Peterson wants to get back to striking at distance but Penn won't allow it.
Penn stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Peterson's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Peterson is rocked!
Penn lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Peterson to his knees! Penn keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!
