The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hope dives in for a single leg takedown but SpijkVier sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Hope takes a swing at SpijkVier's ribcage but misses.
SpijkVier misses with a low kick.
As SpijkVier backs off Hope throws a huge counter combo but SpijkVier manages to avoid it all.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hope enables SpijkVier to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hope manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
SpijkVier tries to free his leg and advance position but Hope is retaining full guard.
SpijkVier seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
