PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hilario Allen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hugg Niceman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Niceman has chosen Why can't we be friends? as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hilario Allen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hugg Niceman!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Allen closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Niceman has clasped his hands together around Allen's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
You can see the frustration on Allen's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Niceman throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Allen is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Niceman is controlling him well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Niceman is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Niceman's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

It looks like Niceman might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Niceman gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Allen tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Niceman just stands there and leans against the cage.

Niceman has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Allen clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Niceman biding his time, controlling Allen.
Niceman has the hooks in. Allen is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Allen really is a fat lump.

Allen is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Niceman.
Niceman looking to soften up his opponent with punches.

Niceman has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Niceman is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

Niceman lands a shot to the body.
Niceman is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

I really don't envy Allen right now.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Niceman looking for the choke but no joy.
Niceman controlling from the back.
Niceman is continuing to stall.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The adventures of Niceman the control monster continue. Boring.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Allen darts in and clinches Niceman up against the cage.

Niceman works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Niceman sitting in guard here, content to control.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Niceman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Niceman is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Niceman has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
More stalling from Niceman.

Let's hope that Niceman has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Allen wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Niceman is now in half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Niceman looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Niceman is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Niceman throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Allen gets a clinch.
Allen is looking for a takedown.

Niceman gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Hugg Niceman has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Niceman not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Niceman thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Allen's head.
Allen is trying to control but Niceman manages to pass to mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Allen wants to hold on but Niceman pushes him away.
Niceman is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Niceman controlling the pace for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hugg Niceman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Allen gets a clinch.

Niceman tightens his grip and picks Allen up, before dumping him to the ground. Allen manages to land in guard.
Allen being controlled here, momentarily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Allen had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Niceman defends it easily.

Allen has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Allen pulls Niceman in close to prevent any damage.
Hugg Niceman is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Allen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Niceman tries to counter with a clinch but Allen shakes him off and moves away.

Allen forces Niceman back against the cage and clinches.

Niceman tightens his grip and picks Allen up, before dumping him to the ground. Allen manages to land in guard.
Niceman is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Niceman looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Allen has closed the distance and engaged Niceman in a clinch.
Hilario Allen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Niceman turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Hugg Niceman.
I've got Niceman winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
