PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frankie Edgar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Daniels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jack Daniels told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frankie Edgar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Daniels!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Chris Dean and Ben Hemmingworth.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daniels slips a jab from Edgar.
Daniels should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Edgar throws out a loose jab but Daniels uses good head movement to avoid it.
Daniels is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Edgar rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Daniels counters with a crisp one two that drops Edgar! Daniels thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Edgar to his feet! Edgar is in big trouble!

Daniels darts in and clinches Edgar up against the cage.
Daniels tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Edgar wants a takedown.
Daniels lands a nice knee to the body.
Edgar changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Daniels fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Edgar is breathing heavily.
Edgar stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Edgar wants it to stay on the feet.
Edgar fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Daniels manages to avoid it.

Daniels has managed to clinch.
Daniels content to slow the pace in the clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Daniels fails to land.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Daniels manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Daniels has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Edgar is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Daniels is stalling here.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Daniels tries to land knees in the clinch but Edgar avoids the damage to the body.

Daniels decides to pull guard.
Daniels is adopting a defensive guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Daniels lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Daniels controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
It looks like Daniels might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Daniels stands and throws Edgar's legs to the side, diving into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Daniels tries to score with some ground and pound. Edgar controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Edgar seems a little lost for a moment, as Daniels dominates the positioning.
Edgar looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Daniels throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Edgar knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Daniels on the ground.

Daniels is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Edgar is trying to escape and Daniels transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Edgar is forced to tap! Nice work there by Daniels! Very nice indeed!
