PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Charlie Wall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Reggie Kray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Reggie Kray was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Charlie Wall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Reggie Kray!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Paul Tew and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wall bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Kray is looking to clinch but Wall is avoiding it.
As Kray tries to get set, Wall tries to push him back and clinch up but Kray manages to avoid the attempt.

Wall shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Wall was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Wall postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Wall moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wall in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Wall lands a nice forearm strike.

Wall stands up and beckons Kray to his feet.

Kray closes the distance and clinches.
Kray misses with a knee strike.

Wall is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Kray can't fight it off and eventually Wall manages to take the fight to the floor. Kray looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Wall postures up in Kray's guard and throws a big left but Kray blocks it.

Kray wants to stand but Wall is controlling the position.

Wall stands up from Kray's guard - Wall perhaps looking for a knockout.

Kray closes the distance and clinches.
Kray using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Wall has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Wall is trying to trip Kray. He has hold of a leg but Kray is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Wall persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Wall in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wall stops Kray from standing up.

Kray is working an open guard so Wall takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Kray tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Reggie Kray seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Wall counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Wall.
Kray looks winded!
Wall controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Wall throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kray works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Wall is stalling in the full guard.

Wall stands and steps away. Kray gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Wall circles away from the clinch attempt.
Wall swats away the attempt to clinch by Kray.
Wall shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Kray throws a big counter head kick but Wall avoids it with no problem.

Wall shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Wall showed some decent athleticism there.

Wall gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Wall throws a series of punches but Kray moves out of range.
Kray fails in his attempt to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Charlie Wall dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Wall pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kray scores with a leg kick.
Kray wants to clinch but Wall slips to the side

and Wall counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Kray is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Wall dives into side control.
Kray really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wall. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Charlie Wall overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kray is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Kray takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

and Wall counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kray won't be happy with that.
Wall is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kray can do to turn this around?

and Wall decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kray's guard.
Wall postures up and lands a big shot to Kray's brow.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kray displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Wall.

Wall fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Kray to the ground. Wall is now in Kray's guard.
Wall has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Wall lands a couple of digs.
Wall makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Wall sitting in guard here, content to control.
Wall prevents Kray from getting back to his feet.
Wall content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Wall won't allow Kray to get back to his feet.

Wall decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kray, up you get!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Wall throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Wall blocks a low kick nicely.
Wall tried to score with a low kick but Kray checks it.

Wall has taken the fight to the clinch.
Kray tries a knee to the head but Wall blocks it.
Wall is looking for a takedown.

Wall really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Wall drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kray gets the underhooks and prevents it.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Wall connects with a nice short shot to Kray's temple.

Wall lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Well, if Wall is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Wall takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Wall stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Kray to get to his feet.

Kray tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Wall counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Kray has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Wall has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Wall wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Wall manages to pull guard.

Wall has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Kray doesn't defend quickly enough and Wall has managed to lock this one up! Can Kray escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Wall on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:37 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Charlie Wall!
