Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Oliva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Von Erich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Von Erich has chosen I always feel like somebody is watching me as his entrance music. Kevin Von Erich will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mike Oliva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kevin Von Erich!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Taro Takaoka and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oliva misses with an uppercut.

Von Erich takes the fight into the clinch.
Oliva blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
The referee calls for Von Erich to work.
Oliva has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Von Erich avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Von Erich breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Oliva slips a jab and a cross from Von Erich.
Von Erich uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Oliva.
Von Erich connects with a jab.
Von Erich is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Oliva dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Oliva is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Von Erich.

Von Erich fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Oliva, pushing him back against the ropes.

Oliva breaks the clinch.
Von Erich blocks a head kick by Oliva.
Von Erich moves away from the strike by Oliva.
Oliva tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Mike Oliva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Oliva swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Von Erich counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Von Erich is trying to control the action in half guard but Oliva is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Von Erich working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Von Erich has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Oliva is looking for a sweep. Von Erich is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Von Erich sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Von Erich looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Oliva might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Von Erich wants to take a breather but Oliva is having none of it.
Oliva knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Von Erich on the ground.

Von Erich is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Oliva is just riding it out for now. Von Erich eventually gives up the hold.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Von Erich in particular looking to stall.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Von Erich throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Von Erich wants to stand up but Oliva has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Von Erich is tying to control. Oliva wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Oliva throws a combination that misses

and Von Erich counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Von Erich.
Von Erich scores with a shoulder strike.
Oliva wants to break the clinch but can't.
A short uppercut from Von Erich.

Oliva manages to break the clinch.
Von Erich tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Oliva swivels and escapes.
Oliva sends Von Erich crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Oliva is motioning to the referee to let Von Erich up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!


Von Erich is rocked!


It looks like Kevin Von Erich has been cut.
Von Erich looks gassed!
Oliva lands with a right and another and another! Von Erich is in big trouble! Oliva lands again and this time it's lights out for Von Erich! A quality knockout there for Oliva.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Mike Oliva!
